From the time we are small children, we are molded to recognize that we need education in order to make money is this greedy, competitive world. We must be educated and search out a career that fits our personality, our background and adapt our lifestyle around this career. Will you get a Masters degree and make that piece of paper look extra special to your potential employers? Will it even help? What happens when you land your perfect job and you hate it?
For too many people in this day and age, this is the truth of the first 25 plus years of their life. Work toward something you don’t fully understand because education doesn’t allow for us to get a “trial” run at a real career without dumping thousands and sometimes hundreds of thousands of dollars into an education for a career we may not even like. Bummer isn’t it?
If you want purpose in life, maybe it’s time to rethink this whole career thing. Education is a stimulating, powerful and extremely desired tool for our society. What is it that drives that passion to learn? You spend hours reading, watching videos, studying photos, graphs and research others have done in your field. You do all this in hopes that you one day will make a difference. How long does it take before you make a difference? Better question, how long does it take before you start to sink into a dark hole of thinking maybe you won’t EVER make a difference? Have much grit must you have to gain these successes?
Often you hear people tell you that it is when you feel like giving up that you should keep trudging forward. When you have a substantial project going nowhere or your life gets bogged down with clutter from all the ‘little’ things piling up, you start giving up hope, sit down, and ask yourself if it is all really worth it? For the sake of your mental health and all the time you already put in, I sincerely hope it is.
This is the time to put your mental game to the test and start thinking outside the box like a big kid. Use that $100,000 education and tell yourself what you are doing and why you are doing it. Let me say that again, TELL yourself why don’t ask yourself the same questions that dug you to this darkness.
Without a good why to your work, is your work really pointless? No, and if you think it is, you are misunderstanding the process of the grey area and building blocks of success. It is simply preparing you for the next stage of your life. Whatever you’re doing today at your current age, status, and level of education, isn’t necessarily what you’re going to do or be for the rest of your life, no matter what age you are.
Do yourself a favor. Sit in a quiet place and reflect on your current life work. How are you making an impact? Understand that the way you choose to react to every situation is the outcome you will receive from it in return. Today is a building block on tomorrow. Tomorrow will be a building block for the next day. Don’t forget that in your daily grind, while gaining ground in your life, you are living in the grey and climbing the ladder of success. You are putting in the work and using your education to be better tomorrow. So go out and do again tomorrow. Be inspiring, be passionate and most of all BE GRITTY! No dream worth achieving comes true without strengthening your character to solve the puzzle of your incredibly bright future!
Let’s get gritty, friend!
